As a Global Opportunities Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting Cardiff Met’s vision to be a progressive, globally connected university. You’ll help deliver an inspiring range of international mobility opportunities and ensure our students – including those who may not typically consider studying abroad – feel empowered, supported and excited to take part. You’ll coordinate and enhance the day‑to‑day administration and service delivery of our Global Opportunities team, ensuring a welcoming, efficient and responsive experience for outgoing students. By helping to maintain strong relationships with partners, providers and colleagues, you’ll help us expand and strengthen our global networks and ensure our mobility programmes remain high‑quality, accessible and compliant.

You’ll lead the way by:

  • Coordinating the outward mobility service, supporting team members, refining processes and ensuring an excellent student experience.
  • Acting as first point of contact for prospective exchange and study abroad students, offering clear, culturally aware guidance on opportunities and requirements.
  • Providing guidance and essential documentation support for outgoing students, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date information.
  • Contributing to new ideas and solutions to widen participation, enabling students from all backgrounds to benefit from global engagement opportunities.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong organisational skills and a passion for supporting students to access global opportunities.
  • Clarity, creativity and cultural awareness to a fast‑paced and varied role.
  • Confidence communicating with a diverse range of audiences, able to explain complex processes simply.
  • Experience in developing positive working relationships across teams and institutions.
  • Detailed understanding of national mobility funding schemes such as Turing, Taith or Erasmus+.
  • Strong digital capability, with experience using a wide range of IT systems and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of the UK higher education environment and experience working in a UK education setting.
  • The ability to prioritise, plan and improve administrative operations, using initiative to refine processes and respond to evolving student needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills, with the ability to support students from a range of cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience of event coordination and confidence representing the University in meetings, networks and partner engagements.
  • A commitment to exceptional customer service and willingness to work flexibly, including occasional out‑of‑hours activity.
