We are seeking exceptional, suitably qualified Associate Tutors to teach Interior Design on an occasional or sessional basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong academic and/or professional background, and will bring enthusiasm, clarity, academic rigor, and a student‑centred approach to all interactions with our global learning community. We particularly value candidates who will develop our research standing and enhance the diversity of our university community and partnerships.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain and familiarize oneself with relevant course documents, including syllabus, assessment methods, preferred teaching methods, student information, and course dates and times.
- Coordinate plans and administrative actions with members of the programme team, and discuss changes as needed.
- Prepare effective course material that fulfils the aims of the course and enhances the learning experience through a student‑centred approach.
- Attend and deliver sessions as agreed, lecturing, leading discussions, providing guidance and advice, and promoting learning.
- Prepare and mark written work, studio work, class work, and examination papers, following the appropriate assessment procedures.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their progress.
- Maintain records of assessment and attendance as required by the University.
- Observe class opening and closing times strictly.
- Notify the Head of Department and the class in advance of unavoidable absences.
- Provide, where appropriate, a course/work plan, set of objectives, and reading lists to students.

- A good honours degree and/or equivalent professional qualification.
- Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme.
- Knowledge of interior design and related professional areas.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Understanding of pedagogy.
- Broad knowledge of the subject area.
- Ability to design teaching and learning materials.
- Ability to employ appropriate assessment methods.
- Accuracy and timeliness in administrative duties.
- Effective workload planning.
- Initiative and problem‑solving skills to identify areas for improvement.
- Communication of complex and conceptual ideas through presentations, reports, and learning materials.
- Ability to develop productive working relationships within a professional team.
