The Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Technician Demonstrator to support the delivery of our Strength and Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage (SCRAM) programme portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the practical teaching, technical support, research activities and day-to-day operation of specialist rehabilitation and massage facilities within one of the UK's leading sport schools.
Working alongside academic staff, you will play a key role in enhancing the student experience by supporting the development of future sport rehabilitation and soft tissue therapy practitioners. You'll play a key role in:
- Supporting the delivery of practical teaching sessions in sports rehabilitation, massage and soft tissue therapy.
- Demonstrating specialist techniques, equipment and processes to students, staff and visitors.
- Maintaining high‑quality teaching environments, equipment and facilities to support learning and research activities.
- Supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, including research and data collection activities.
- Advising staff and students on the safe and effective use of specialist rehabilitation and massage equipment.
- Contributing to health and safety management, equipment procurement and the continuous enhancement of teaching provision.
What you’ll bring:
- You will have a strong practical background in sports rehabilitation, sports therapy, massage therapy or a related discipline, together with the confidence to demonstrate techniques and support student learning in both teaching and clinical environments.
- You will be passionate about helping students develop their practical skills and professional competence, whilst maintaining high standards of safety, organisation and professionalism.
- As an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, you will enjoy working collaboratively with academic staff, students and external stakeholders.
- You will be proactive, organised and able to manage a varied workload across teaching, technical support, administration and research activities.
- Additionally, you’ll hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as sports rehabilitation, sports therapy, physiotherapy, sport and exercise science or massage therapy.
- Possess a recognised qualification in Sports Massage.
- Have experience of delivering or supporting sports rehabilitation and soft tissue therapy practice in a clinical, educational or applied setting.
- Be confident using, maintaining and troubleshooting specialist equipment and facilities.
- Have a sound understanding of health and safety requirements and their application within practical teaching environments.
- Be able to support student practical development and provide constructive feedback to academic staff regarding student progress.
- Demonstrate strong organisational, administrative and IT skills.
