Senior Technician Sport Performance Analysis
As a Senior Technician (Performance Analysis), you will provide specialist support for teaching, practical delivery and related activities across the Performance Analysis labs and sports facilities.
You will take responsibility for equipment preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and day‑to‑day operational support, to both staff and students, ensuring that the labs and equipment are fully prepared for teaching, work‑based learning, and related practical activities.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with performance analysis staff and other stakeholders to coordinate, prepare, and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Provide practical and technical support and guidance, ensuring appropriate access to software and equipment.
- Assist student work‑based learning, including capture of video footage and organization of resources.
- Work alongside staff to assist the School or wider University, including Cardiff Met Sport, in developing and promoting Cardiff Met as Wales Sporting University.
Qualifications
- Experience of using performance analysis equipment, software, and related technical activities in a sport or higher education environment.
- Practical knowledge of video capture, data handling, equipment setup, and basic fault‑finding.
- Practical knowledge of performance analysis software, including Hudl SportsCode, Angles, Dartfish, Nacsport, Metrica, and related tools, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and hands‑on assistance to staff and students.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage equipment loans, stock, maintenance, and records accurately.
- Aware of health and safety requirements and able to work safely in practical settings.
- Enjoys working in a team but can also work independently, is self‑motivated, and demonstrates initiative and a solution‑oriented aptitude.
Additional Requirements
- Genuine interest in helping staff and students develop their knowledge and confidence in using performance analysis tools and technologies.
- Sound knowledge of statutory health & safety requirements (e.g., risk assessments, method statements) to create safe working environments for sport performance analysis.
- Hold a degree‑equivalent qualification in a relevant subject with evidence of studying sport performance analysis.
