About the Role

We are currently recruiting for 5 x Production Operatives across different departments:

• 2 x Production Operatives – Powder Coating Department (Days)
• 1 x Quality Operative – Quality Department (Days)
• 1 x Smelter/General Labourer – Galvanizing Department (Days) (Operating our zinc smelt machine to process zinc ash plus general labouring in different areas during downtime)
• 1 x Production Operative – Galvanizing Department (Rotating Days/Nights – additional £1 an hour on night shift)

All roles are permanent, full-time positions.

About the Roles

These are hands-on, physical production jobs working with metal products of all sizes. Depending on the department, typical duties may include:

• Grinding, fettling, sanding, filing and preparing steel, aluminium and galvanised items
• Identifying worn/broken grinder discs, changing discs, and safe tool handling
• Cleaning, blowing off dust, degreasing, etching and priming various metal types
• Hanging, lifting, and moving items safely using wires, hooks, bars and cranes
• General labouring tasks across site, depending on workload
• Operating production equipment (including smelt machinery for the smelter role)
• Supporting quality checks and surface preparation for the Quality Team role
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working area and following all PPE requirements

Full training is provided for all roles, with opportunities to upskill in areas such as forklift driving, overhead crane use, and other plant operations.

Hours & Pay

Standard hours for days roles are 8:00 am – 4:45 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours) with overtime available including weekends.

Galvanizing shifts are rotating days/nights. Days are 7:00 am – 3:45 pm, Monday to Friday. Nights are 8:00 pm – 4:45 am, Sunday night to Friday morning. Extra £1.00 per hour on night shift.

Pay is £12.21 per hour. Overtime:

• Weekdays & up to 12pm Saturday – time and a half
• After 12pm Saturday & all day Sunday – double time

Monthly departmental performance bonus, based on turnover and quality (discretionary).

After 6 months top performers earn an additional performance bonus based on their performance review (discretionary).

About You

We\’re looking for people who:

• Has experience in a production, factory, labouring, metal/steelwork, or manual roles
• Can use hand tools safely (angle grinders, sandpaper, files etc.)
• Are physically fit and comfortable being on their feet all day
• Are reliable, hardworking and able to follow instructions
• Are willing to work overtime
• (Galvanizing role only) Are able to work rotating day/night shifts

No previous experience or qualifications required. Training will be provided for all processes, with further opportunities to learn forklift, overhead crane, and other plant skills.
