Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe, and we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to lead the Highways Maintenance Operations Teams in supporting frontline operations to deliver a high standard of service to the residents & visitors of Cardiff.
About the job
The Team Leader Maintenance Operations will oversee the delivery of a high-quality and safety focussed Highways Maintenance Operations service. This includes delivery of the winter maintenance and adverse weather service. This full-time role involves leading the delivery of highway asset maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
This role is not suitable for agile working due to its operational nature. The post will be mainly based at Brindley Road Depot, however you will be expected to work from various locations and be required to participate in an ‘out of hours’ stand-by rota, for the provision of a 24hour emergency operation.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are seeking an experienced and capable individual who can demonstrate:
- Experience of delivering a highway maintenance operations service.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in digital systems and data management tools.
- Knowledge of change management and experience of leading and delivering new effective and efficient processes and ways of working.
Desirable attributes include recognised management and health and safety qualifications, knowledge of relevant highway accreditations including British Standards Institution (BSI), and familiarity with working with unions and elected officials.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our highway assets are managed effectively and sustainably to support high-quality service delivery.
