Cardiff Council's Parks Services Team manages and maintains over 1,600 hectares of parks, green spaces, sports facilities, playgrounds, woodlands and cemeteries across the city. Our award-winning parks and green spaces play a vital role in supporting health and wellbeing, biodiversity, climate resilience and community cohesion.
We work closely with local residents, community groups, volunteers, schools and partner organisations to ensure Cardiff's parks remain welcoming, sustainable and high-quality spaces for everyone to enjoy. As community involvement continues to play an increasingly important role in the future management and development of green spaces, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to help grow and strengthen our volunteer programme across the city.
About the job
As Parks Open Spaces Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will lead the development and delivery of volunteering opportunities across Cardiff's parks and green spaces, with a particular focus on horticultural and environmental improvement projects.
You will recruit, support and develop volunteers, community groups, schools and corporate organisations, helping them to make a meaningful contribution to the city's parks. Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders, you will design and coordinate a programme of practical activities including planting, habitat improvement, park enhancement projects and community events.
The role will also support the promotion and maintenance of Green Flag Award sites, encourage greater community ownership of parks, and help deliver activities that contribute to biodiversity, climate resilience and improved public spaces.
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines community engagement, project coordination, environmental stewardship and practical outdoor work.
