An opportunity has arisen for a senior Occupational Therapist to join Independent Living Services. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team committed to high-quality practice, continuous improvement and positive outcomes for the people of Cardiff.
About the job
You will undertake complex occupational therapy assessments, agree outcomes with individuals and carers, and plan interventions that promote independence and reduce risk. Interventions may include equipment, major/minor adaptations, reablement and wider strengths-based solutions. You will manage complex cases appropriate to your role, with support from the Team Manager where needed. You will also undertake Trusted Assessor assessments, making recommendations for care and support that reflect the person’s assessed needs, including right-sizing existing care packages where appropriate.
The role also includes:
- Providing mentoring, practice support and professional guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants and Grade 7 Occupational Therapists, as appropriate;
- Supporting professional decision-making, reflective practice and the consistent application of service standards;
- Contributing to business planning, quality assurance and service improvement;
- Leading an agreed area of service development through the Personal Performance and Development Review process.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), with relevant experience of working with adults with physical disabilities and/or older people. You will be able to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider team. You will have strong assessment, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. You will be committed to strength-based, outcome-focused practice and to working collaboratively with individuals, carers, colleagues and partner agencies. You will also be able to mentor and support colleagues, share professional knowledge and contribute constructively to service development.
