An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cardiff City Women as a 1st Team Goalkeeper Coach. The First Team Goalkeeper Coach is responsible for developing the goalkeeper group in alignment with the manager’s playing style, delivering tailored training and match preparation to maximise performance and consistency.
Main Duties
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate goalkeeper‑specific training sessions and matchday preparation in line with the club’s coaching blueprint and game model.
- Design sessions that develop the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological demands of elite goalkeeping.
- Deliver goalkeeper‑unit practices that support the manager’s philosophy and meet the individual needs of each goalkeeper.
- Contribute to individual, unit, or team meetings by providing goalkeeper‑specific insights to our goalkeeping unit.
- Support the recruitment process by assessing goalkeeper transfer targets and identifying potential signings.
- Work collaboratively with all departments, including medical, sports science, and performance analysis, to optimise goalkeeper development and performance.
- Stay up to date with modern goalkeeping trends and continually seek opportunities to improve goalkeeper operations and practices.
- Oversee our Girls’ Academi coaches and support with their professional development, and where necessary with their session planning and delivery.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the 1st Team Manager.
Person Specification
Qualifications: UEFA Goalkeeper B Licence, FAW Football Level 2, FAW (or equivalent) Emergency Aid Certificate, FAW (or equivalent) Safeguarding Certificate, Working towards A or achieved UEFA Goalkeeper A Licence.
Experience: Experience of working within a first team football environment, Experience of working within an Academy environment.
