The purpose of this role is to manage a branch library to meet the learning, information, leisure and cultural needs of the local community in line with the aims and objectives of the library service. The post holder will provide supervisory and administrative work and direct the day-to-day operation of a branch library. Work also includes developing and implementing services and special events, including outreach work, to promote use of the branch library. You may be required to work at other Rhondda Cynon Taf libraries at short notice. This library is situated within a Welsh medium campus; the ability to speak Welsh will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervisory and administrative support and direct day-to-day operations of a branch library.
  • Develop and implement library services and special events, including outreach, to promote use of the branch library.
  • Attend to branch needs and potentially work at other Rhondda Cynon Taf libraries at short notice.
  • Safeguarding: protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

  • This library is situated within a Welsh medium campus, so the ability to speak Welsh is an advantage.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the successful applicant.
