Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical input to the Forget Me Not Unit, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of service users with complex mental health needs.
- Contribute to the care of up to 20 beds, across Sage and Rosemary ward including participation in regular ward rounds, MDT meetings and risk assessments.
- Participate in the assessment of new admissions, and contribute to treatment and care planning, ensuring care is evidence‑based and outcome‑focused.
- Offer clinical input and advice to other team members, including resident doctors, allied health professionals, and nursing colleagues.
- Support the management of complex cases and ensure safe implementation of the Mental Health Act, where applicable.
- Work collaboratively with internal services and external agencies, including primary care, social care, education and third‑sector providers.
- Contribute to multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working, promoting integrated and patient‑centred care.
- Undertake any other clinical duties appropriate to the role, including involvement in specialist assessments or services as required.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- 4years at full‑time postgraduate training or higher, or equivalent experience with at least 2years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych.
- Additional clinical qualifications.
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve this within 3months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve this within 3months of appointment.
- Valid UK driving licence or evidence of a proposed alternative.
- Excellent knowledge in specialty and excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
- Demonstrated commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement.
- Participation in continuous professional development.
- Participation in research or service evaluation.
- Ability to use and appraise clinical evidence.
- Ability to work in a participatory way so that shared decision‑making and conversations around formulation, diagnosis and ongoing care are a collaborative endeavour with the people who access our service.
