Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and successful practice.

The practice is a GMS practice based in the City of Worcester, a vibrant and historic area with great motorway access and excellent housing.

We pride ourselves in modern high‑quality care with great patient continuity while maintaining traditional values.

We are looking between 4 to 6 sessions per week.

Days are to be confirmed.

The post‑holder will provide general medical services focusing on a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

The practice offers face‑to‑face, telephone and home visit appointments, pre‑bookable appointments and on‑the‑day appointments.

There will be a requirement to contribute to extended opening appointments and to share On‑Call and Extended Hours duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visit patients at home, and check and sign off repeat prescriptions.
  • Handle paperwork and correspondence within an appropriate timescale.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers.
  • Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans.
  • Provide counselling and health education.
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collect data for audit purposes.
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribe in accordance with the practice based system, Switch Script (or generically) whenever clinically appropriate.
  • Contribute to the successful achievement of the Quality Outcomes Framework and to additional service obligations such as IQSP and Promoting Clinical Excellence.
  • Perform all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
  • Stay aware of and comply with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e. g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • Commit to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
  • Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • Summarise patient records and read‑code patient data.
  • Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties, with appropriate training, as requested by the Partners.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
  • Evidence of revalidation.
  • On the National Medical Performers list.
  • UK driving licence and car.
  • Appropriate safeguarding training.
  • MRCGP DRCOG.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Minor surgery skills.
  • Family planning.
  • Completed GP Vocational Training Scheme.
  • Experience of working as a GP in the UK.
  • Clinical & Information Governance.
  • Excellent time‑management, prioritising work and working under pressure.
  • Evidence of participation in audit and self‑reflection.
  • Chronic disease management experience.
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within QOF.
  • Responsibility for chronic disease QOF indicators.
  • Ability to interpret and implement local and national policy agendas for health.
  • Experience of using EMISWEB, DOCMAN software.
  • Wider IT skills.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexibly.
  • Ability to recognise own limitations and act upon them appropriately.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and solve problems on a daily basis.
  • Well‑developed organisational and communication skills (written and verbal).

We are a thriving and friendly General Medical Practice, well established within the community with a growing registered patient list size of over 11,700.

Our supportive clinical team includes three partners, four salaried GPs, a locum ANP, a clinical pharmacist, a pharmacy technician, a physician associate, three practice nurses and an HCA.

We also have supportive management, administrative and reception teams.

The practice is an active member of the Worcester City Primary Care Network, proudly serving over 126,000 patients across the city.
