About the Role

This role supports the Associate Director of Safeguarding and Legal Affairs in delivering high quality safeguarding assurance across the organisation, in line with local and national legislation and guidance.

The post holder will collaborate with internal and external partners to promote safe, effective practice and act as deputy to the Associate Director when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide line management to the Named Professionals and overall operational management of the Corporate Safeguarding Service and MASH function.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners across child and adult safeguarding.
  • Lead service change and implement management of change processes.
  • Develop and manage quality improvement projects using QI methodology.
  • Manage budgets effectively and deliver high‑quality, value‑for‑money services.
  • Support and develop service user and carer involvement and co‑production.
  • Translate strategy into operational practice and deliver service outcomes to agreed standards.
  • Apply risk management processes and resolve complex issues, including conflict resolution.
  • Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Registration with Social Work England, HCPC or NMC.
  • Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience within mental health services.
  • Recent (within last 2 years) experience of practice in adult mental health as a mental health social worker, OT or nurse.
  • Extensive (minimum 3 years) experience of line management of a team, including sickness and performance management within mental health services.
  • Experience leading service change and implementing change management processes.
  • Experience developing and managing quality improvement projects and utilising QI methodology.
  • Experience effectively managing budgets and delivering high quality, value‑for‑money services.
  • Experience working within an integrated/multi‑disciplinary service setting.
  • Experience supporting service‑user and carer involvement and co‑production.
  • Masters level qualification in safeguarding.
  • Key Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of legislation relating to safeguarding, contemporary safeguarding issues, and legal best‑practice frameworks for sexual safety, domestic abuse support, and carers in mental health.
  • Strong analytical, research and evidence‑based decision‑making skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Project management and ability to prepare and present written briefings to senior leadership.
  • Capacity to set standards for staff, motivate and empower teams, and maintain morale and teamwork.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development for self and others.
