Job Overview
Second Chef at Arbury Court, Elysium Healthcare, Warrington.
Work 37.5 hours per week creating daily meals for service users, staff and visitors, supporting the Head Chef and providing training to peers.
Responsibilities
- Support Head Chef with day‑to‑day running of the kitchen.
- Maintain food storage and stock rotation procedures.
- Prepare, plan and cook meals to consistently high standard, taking account of dietary requirements.
- Serve service users, staff and visitors professionally and courteously.
- Prepare foods for conferences and banquets.
- Participate in food costings and cost control procedures.
- Adhere to Safer Food Better Business, Food Hygiene Regulations and HACCP.
- Assume full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
- Assist in researching and creating new menus in line with healthy eating guidelines.
- File HACCP paperwork: fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- GCSE or equivalent in English.
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 in Basic Food Preparation Cooking (or equivalent).
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate (essential); Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar environment and mass‑service delivery.
- Knowledge of menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budgeting.
