Role Overview
Occupational Therapist – part‑time, fixed‑term (6‑9 months) covering maternity leave at The Spinney, Atherton.
The position is 30 hours per week and involves working within medium and low secure services, supporting individuals detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) with a history of offending behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate evidence‑based group and individual OT programmes.
- Conduct comprehensive OT assessments and review treatment programmes under supervision.
- Create individual rapport with service users to empower recovery.
- Identify and action referrals within the unit and to external agencies.
- Support planning, evaluation, and audit of clinical pathways and protocols.
- Maintain contemporaneous, written and electronic records and activity data in line with professional and service standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- UK HCPC registration or actively applying for registration.
- Evidence of ability to research, plan, implement, and evaluate projects for specific groups.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
