Responsibilities
- Work in pairs to collect and deliver donations, primarily furniture, from customers' homes or businesses.
- Assess and collect items, using sympathy and politeness when declining non‑compliant donations.
- Deliver items to the appropriate rooms in the donor home or business, unless otherwise agreed.
- Label and identify Gift Aid stock in the van so that donor details are easily accessible to the shop.
- Assess suitability and legal compliance of donated goods, and remove unsaleable donations.
- Sort, categorize, label, and store good stock in a safe and accessible manner.
- Comply with Hospices Shops Health & Safety policies and Trading Standards legislation.
- Serve as a Door Step ambassador, presenting yourself appropriately, wearing a clean uniform, and maintaining a positive image.
- Work flexibly; be available for any five days from seven in a regular shift pattern and additional hours when required.
- Operate a variety of vehicles for delivery/collection tasks in a warehouse/retail environment.
Qualifications
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling on a daily basis.
- Proven experience with manual handling and delivery of large items.
- Valid driving record and experience driving different sized vehicles.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, personable and able to relate to staff, volunteers, and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience with a Gift Aid system is advantageous.
- Aware of Health & Safety and Trading Standards legislation.
