Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Podiatrist with a passion for high‑risk foot care and a desire to develop leadership skills.
This 9‑month secondment will cover maternity leave within the Brent and Harrow Specialist Care podiatry team, offering part‑time and flexible working options.
The role supports professional growth across clinical care, leadership, education and research, with mentorship from senior colleagues, a Service Lead and a Practice Development Podiatrist.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for complex high‑risk foot conditions.
- Support service delivery and contribute to the ongoing development of podiatry services.
- Participate in leadership activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to education and training for colleagues and students where appropriate.
- Engage in research and service development projects to improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
- BSc or equivalent in Podiatric Medicine.
- Evidence of continuous professional development portfolio, including postgraduate courses.
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) with annotations POM‑A, POM‑S, and Independent Prescriber (or willingness to train).
- Certificate in Ionising Radiation (medical exposure) regulations (IR(ME)R) and proficiency in PACS.
- Training in requesting and interpreting investigations relevant to foot complications.
- Education in advanced podiatric practice such as MSc in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent.
- Leadership qualification or course.
- Substantive experience at band 6 level or above, including managing a high‑risk caseload and leading a vascular or wound‑care patient pathway.
- Experience of multidisciplinary and inter‑agency working.
- Experience in clinical supervision, teaching, mentoring, and line management, including sickness absence management.
- Experience of continuous quality improvement, clinical pathway improvement and service development.
- Knowledge of audit and risk assessment, clinical governance, equality and diversity, and NHS high‑risk foot prevention strategies.
- Ability to manage safeguarding situations and provide guidance to team members.
- Strong communication, analytical, and adaptable skills for complex patient care.
- UK driving licence with access to a car for business purposes (unless disability‑related).
