Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Practitioner to join our practice in Twickenham.

The role is part‑time salaried with an initial schedule of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but the hours can be discussed with the right candidate.

The practice serves just over 8,000 patients and is a well‑established, supportive training environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries
  • Home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems
  • Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Develop care plans and provide health education to patients
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collect and audit data for quality improvement
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible
  • Prescribe in accordance with the practice formulary and clinical guidelines
  • Support the triage appointment system
  • Make referrals where necessary and undertake prescription requests
  • Liaise with the admin team and participate in staff and clinical meetings

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a degree in medicine recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Completed a two‑year foundation course in general training
  • Have or are completing specialist training in general medical practice
  • Completed an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • GP Trainer preferred; experience in a dynamic, evolving training practice is an advantage
  • Team and Support

The clinical team consists of 2 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 1 PA, 1 practice nurse, 1 HCA and 2 clinical pharmacists.

PCN social prescribers and a mental health clinician are also part of the team.

The admin team includes care coordinators and reception staff who support both patients and clinicians.

Practice Systems

Electronic medical record systems used include EMIS, Anima and Accu Rx.
