Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join a friendly and welcoming GP Surgery in Twickenham on a permanent basis.
Working Hours
Part‑time, 22 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1pm to 6:30pm. Flexibility to cover sickness and holiday replacements is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting and booking patients for clinics.
- Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.
- Receiving and recording telephone messages and taking appropriate action.
- Restoring the telephone service in the morning and checking for any messages.
- Making appointments on EMIS and processing appointment requests for today and future appointments.
- Acting as a liaison with doctors and nurses, looking after patient communications.
- Pulling and filing medical records, processing repeat prescriptions and filing for collection within 48hours.
- Taking home‑visit requests; processing emails and directing requests to the relevant clinician.
- Processing post and online documentation – saving and sending to the relevant clinician.
- Actioning messages from the clinical team.
- Handling correspondence and file transfers.
Qualifications & Experience
- EMIS trained.
- Previous reception/admin and/or customer‑services skills desirable; training will be provided.
- Experience within a GP practice is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to negotiate, influence, manage conflict and disputes.
- Time‑management and delegation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competence in the use of computer systems and the Microsoft Office suite.

Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.
