Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Experienced in Swindon

Health Visitors are a valued part of our Public Health Nursing Service. They work with children and their families to make healthy lifestyle choices. They lead the Healthy Child Programme and use their professional skills to assess targeted and specialist work., Role holder is a qualified and registered Nurse or Midwife with additional postgraduate education and registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Health Visitor. Health Visitors will provide evidenced-based interventions to meet the health-related needs of individuals, families, groups and communities and be able to assess and evaluate their effectiveness. Health Visitors lead and deliver the Healthy Child Programme (HCP), providing support from pregnancy and throughout childhood until school age; identifying early those children and families who require additional/specialist intervention and support. Accountable for the quality and professionalism of their work and advice, role holders answer questions about what needs to be done and how to do them, in specific (and often complex) situations. Clinical interventions at this level horizons may be short term or extend beyond weeks/months. Their work will be based on a theoretical understanding of their technical/professional field, but they will be operating within well-established professional procedures and defined Council policies. Work will involve a broad range of complex problems and role holders will need to manage changing priorities and use professional judgement to respond to differing situations. They relay technical advice and guidance, working with members of the community to ensure that their needs are met.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of people. They will demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills, which underpin a resilient, brave and connected mind set. The ability to travel throughout the Borough is essential and therefore a car driver would be preferable.

Qualifications

• BSc - Hons - Nursing or Midwifery or equivalent.
• PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing or equivalent.
• Registered Nurse or Midwife on NMC Register.
• Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Health Visitor on NMC Register.
