Consultant Psychiatrist
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our Intensive Service, delivering 24‑hour rapid assessment and treatment for patients in crisis and providing home‑based intensive care to promote recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous 24‑hour rapid assessment and crisis treatment through the Intensive Service.
- Develop and agree individual care plans and deliver intensive home‑based treatment to reduce distress.
- Ensure smooth transfer to specialist hospitals when required and support patients on return to home after discharge.
- Act as the gate‑keeping and discharging agent for inpatient services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lead clinical initiatives.
- Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and mentoring.
- Conduct audit projects and contribute to research publications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Medical degree (MBBS/MBCh B or equivalent) with a relevant higher degree (MD, Ph D, MSc).
- Fully registered with the GMC and holding a licence to practise; on the Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT.
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Experience assessing and treating patients in inpatient or community settings, including crisis management.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to manage workload, and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Experience in teaching, learning, audit or research projects.
