This role focuses on completing a Specialist Community Practitioner programme to qualify as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on a designated pathway, culminating in practice as a Health Visitor or School Nursing professional.
Responsibilities
- Attend all university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with university regulations.
- Link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation with support from the Specialist Community Practice Teacher.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current and emerging national, regional and local health‑care legislation, policies and guidelines relevant to the chosen pathway.
- Develop and build upon skills in caseload management and team leadership and management.
- Work within university regulations concerning academic work and student conduct, and in line with NELFT policies and procedures.
- Work within employing organisation policies that pertain to the clinical setting and employee responsibilities.
- By the end of the course, acquire all knowledge and skills necessary to undertake Health Visitor/School Nursing duties, as measured by continuous assessment of competence, learning outcomes and sign‑off.
Qualifications
- Current NMC registration for nursing or mid‑wifery.
- Evidence of application for NMC registration and confirmed registration within two months of the start date.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary will be provided for students; external applicants will receive a mid‑point Band5 salary, while internal applicants will retain their existing salary.
- High Cost Area Supplement
- 5% of basic salary (minimum £1,303, maximum £2,198 per annum pro‑rated for part time) for positions in Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford.
- Probationary period applies to all new hires; internal applicants are exempt unless already in the middle of a probationary period.
