Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clerical service to the ward ensuring all duties are carried out accurately, efficiently, and confidentially.
- Monitor all non-clinical patient facilities within the ward area, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment to enhance patient experience.
- Conduct daily checks of the ward environment to monitor quality standards, report deficiencies, and take appropriate action.
- Deliver cleaning, catering, and minor maintenance services together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs.
- Adopt a flexible approach and recognise changing priorities throughout the day in respect of the fluctuating nature of a busy service.
- Accurately allocate, record, and dispatch mail.
- Receive telephone calls, refer to nursing staff or take/allocate messages as appropriate.
- Receive and send documentation and e‑mail as per policy.
- Produce correspondence and other documentation as required, and photocopy, collate and distribute documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Good standard of secondary education; GCSE at Grade C or above or equivalent.
- Previous experience of working with the public.
- Numeracy and literacy skills to a Level 4.
- Calm, organised, well‑motivated with a positive, mature and flexible approach.
- Good communication skills, particularly when interacting with patients and their families.
