Responsibilities
Receive and process all imaging referrals efficiently and promptly, creating or locating patient records in the Radiology Information System (RIS) or Careflow system as required. Book appointments in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures for the 18‑week RTT pathway for each modality.
Coordinate with consultants, radiographers, and sonographers to allocate correct appointment slots, and adjust appointment times, travel arrangements, or interpreting services to meet patient needs.
Provide a professional telephone service—answer queries, relay messages, and maintain high service levels. Manage electronic orders, verify data before processing, and respond to emails in a timely manner.
Handle paper referrals, maintain accurate data quality, and perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and post processing.
Work effectively in a busy call‑centre environment, supporting colleagues, maintaining strong teamwork and confidentiality, and adapting to changing priorities.
Qualifications & Skills
- GCSE (or equivalent) standard, Level 9‑4.
- Experience in public/customer service and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in a busy call‑centre or hospital environment; previous receptionist experience is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a polite, courteous telephone manner.
- Strong IT/keyboard skills, attention to detail, accurate data input, and ability to prioritise workload.
- Good interpersonal skills, empathy, adaptability, and a professional appearance.
