Job Overview

The three Partner Trusts have established a single procurement function to support the sustainable provision of clinical and non‑clinical services.

A newly formed Humber & North Yorkshire Procurement Collaborative, hosted by Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, will provide procurement and supply chain services to its Partner Trusts and may, over time, extend to other bodies within the Integrated Care System.

The Assistant Buyer will work across all Partner Trusts as a credible procurement professional, providing advice and guidance to clinical and corporate colleagues, encouraging collaboration between Care Groups and procurement teams to maximise commercial outcomes for patients.

Base locations include Hull, York, Scarborough, Grimsby and Scunthorpe.

This vacancy does not meet UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore the Sponsor will not issue a Certificate of Sponsorship.

  • Get procurement closer to the customer.
  • Move towards a single way of working across all three trusts.
  • Build category strategies that consider buying as one versus local purchases where best.
  • Challenge current buying practices and explore alternative approaches.
  • Embed innovation.
  • Ensure earlier engagement with customers to make a difference.
  • Support standardisation.

You will deliver and report on financial savings and value for money through procurement projects to achieve target financial savings.

You may be required to demonstrate how procurement can support good quality care, financial balance and the creation of new and existing teams during the application and interview process.

  • Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of professional purchasing principles acquired through a vocational level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles gained through short courses and experience or equivalent.

  • IT literate with evidence of modern working practices.
  • Good problem‑solving ability, flexible approach, and ability to cope with change and uncertainty.
