Overview

We are looking for an ambitious, fellowship-trained otologist to join our friendly and forward‑thinking ENT team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is primarily based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, with cross‑site work at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

As a full‑time general ENT consultant with a special interest in Otology, you will shape service strategy and clinical pathways rather than simply stepping into a fixed rota.

You will work within a 1 in 12 on‑call network covering Winchester, Southampton and Salisbury, combining a stable district‑general base with the variety of a tertiary‑linked network.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide ENT services across the Trust, including elective surgery, outpatient otology caseloads and complex case management.
  • Work across multiple sites and be prepared to respond to additional or temporary duties at any Trust location.
  • Take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Participate in clinical and other service activities to maintain a consistently high standard of patient care.
  • Contribute to management and development of the clinical service, including service strategy and clinical pathway design.

Qualifications & skills

  • Fellowship‑trained otologist with experience in elective ENT surgery.
  • Experience managing elective outpatient otology caseloads.
  • Experience supervising junior doctors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
