Occupational Therapist to join the Doncaster Community Team for Adult Mental Health.
The role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of settings including patients’ homes, care homes, and supported living environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive OT service for adults with mental health issues in Doncaster, managing complex and profound cases.
- Assess occupational and vocational needs and deliver individual and group OT interventions.
- Supervise junior staff, OT assistants and support staff in community interventions, fostering independent living skills and rehabilitation goals.
- Develop links with statutory and voluntary sector resources to address ongoing occupational needs and support safe transition processes.
- Manage a defined caseload using person-centred principles, planning, implementing and evaluating interventions with evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of OT theory, models of practice, and assessment tools relevant to the post.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and managing caseloads.
- Experience supervising staff and students.
- Experience contributing to service development, audit and user involvement.
- Understanding of mental health legislation, risk assessment and management.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and applicable statutory frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
- Good organisational, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in IT and information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group sessions and individual therapy.
- Leadership and supervision skills.
