Occupational Therapist to join the Doncaster Community Team for Adult Mental Health.

The role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of settings including patients’ homes, care homes, and supported living environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive OT service for adults with mental health issues in Doncaster, managing complex and profound cases.
  • Assess occupational and vocational needs and deliver individual and group OT interventions.
  • Supervise junior staff, OT assistants and support staff in community interventions, fostering independent living skills and rehabilitation goals.
  • Develop links with statutory and voluntary sector resources to address ongoing occupational needs and support safe transition processes.
  • Manage a defined caseload using person-centred principles, planning, implementing and evaluating interventions with evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of OT theory, models of practice, and assessment tools relevant to the post.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and managing caseloads.
  • Experience supervising staff and students.
  • Experience contributing to service development, audit and user involvement.
  • Understanding of mental health legislation, risk assessment and management.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and applicable statutory frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
  • Good organisational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in IT and information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group sessions and individual therapy.
  • Leadership and supervision skills.
