Consultant Psychiatrist - Mental Health Neighbourhood Team in Redditch

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at Redditch Neighbourhood Mental Health Team., The team provides accessible, person-centred mental health care supported by local Primary Care Networks. Its purpose is to offer holistic, trauma-informed support for adults with a range of mental health needs, including severe, complex and enduring conditions. The team aims to meet the needs of both people with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) as well as those with trauma histories, personality difficulties, co-morbid substance use, long-term physical health conditions, and social adversity. To this end, the team works collaboratively with primary care, social care, voluntary sector partners and community services to deliver integrated, recovery-focused care. The aim is seamless care across organisational boundaries with a no wrong front door referral policy and a step-up and step-down flow of patient care between primary and secondary services., Mental Health Practitioner caseloads are generally limited to 15-20 cases, allowing the team to deliver a range of psychosocial interventions, including Crisis Safety Planning, Emotional Management and Distress Tolerance Skills, Anxiety Management, Early Warning Signs / Relapse Prevention, Behavioural Activation and Sleep Hygiene. The Team also offers a Managing Emotions Group to patients experiencing emotional dysregulation, often as a preliminary to further psychological work such as DBT. The team is working to deliver access to NMHT services within 28 days of referral, and are currently meeting this target. There is a twice weekly referrals meeting where new referrals are discussed together with cases of concern, and a monthly team meeting for education and team administration.

This is full time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part time.

• Full Registration with the General Medical Council (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment).
• On the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview
• MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
• I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer., Broad experience in General Adult Psychiatry (or your subspecialty), including management of complex and high-risk patients
• Experience of multidisciplinary team working
• Experience of clinical leadership within a team setting
• Experience of supervising and teaching junior medical staff and other professionals
• Experience of risk assessment and risk management
• Experience of audit, quality improvement, and service development, The candidate should have relevant clinical experience
• Knowledge of appropriate medical, pharmacological and psychological treatments in the General Adult Psychiatry
• Knowledge about the NHS and understanding the evidence base underpinning the delivery of high quality services
• Understanding of the importance of excellent team working relationships and ability to put this into practice., Ability to work across teams and disciplinary boundaries in a collaborative style.
