Stoke HSSU Hub, Sterile Services Unit (ST5 7UF). Not based at Clayton Nuffield Hospital.

Contract & Pay

Bank contract – part‑time, primarily weekend work. Pay rate: £12.84 per hour with a 20% weekend enhancement.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, prepare, and sterilise medical instruments for theatre surgery.
  • Inspect and maintain instruments to a high standard.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Check medical equipment for damage and report faults.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
  • Resolve problems, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Document activities accurately in line with policies and procedures.
  • Handle manual tasks up to 13 kg.
  • Work effectively within a friendly team.
  • Complete required training.
  • Use computer systems as needed.
  • Show strong attention to detail and a commitment to high quality service.

Qualifications

  • Basic general education.
  • Proof of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in a sterile services environment preferred.
  • Evidence of sterile services training desirable.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to perform manual handling up to 13 kg.
