Job Summary
We're looking for a Practitioner Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to join our friendly, highly‑skilled community of psychological professionals in the Brighton & Hove Neighbourhood Mental Health Team.
This is a 1‑year fixed‑term 0.6 Band7 post (22.5 hours) based in the East Neighbourhood Mental Health Team.
You will work with people with complex mental health problems and their families and carers.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist applied psychology service to clients, their families or carers.
- Support psychological practice through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
- Participate in systematic clinical governance.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring psychological aspects of patient care and risk management are integrated into treatment plans.
- Use research skills for audit, service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
Qualifications
- Post‑graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology as approved by the HCPC, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, at least two distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Practically registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment across the full range of care settings (outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient).
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
- Experience working with diverse client groups across the lifespan, managing a range of clinical severity while maintaining professionalism in the face of emotional distress, verbal abuse and potential physical threats.
- Experience of applying psychology in different cultural contexts and working within a multicultural framework.
- Experience offering teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience representing psychology within the context of multidisciplinary care.
- Knowledge of national and local guidance and legislation relevant to the client group.
