Overview
Band A Dentist – Community Dental Service (CDS) within Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board.
Provide dental care to vulnerable patient groups across community‑based sites, including new Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre (expected opening April 2026).
The role includes covering all areas of the service across sites, providing treatment under general anaesthetic, sedation, domiciliary care, assessment clinics and other service provision, with duties outside routine hours where required.
Welsh Skills
Welsh Skills are desirable at Level 3 Speaking/Listening (B1). Ability to hold simple conversations with patients is sufficient.

Responsibilities
- Cover all service areas across multiple sites, including domiciliary care and peripheral clinics.
- Provide treatment under general anaesthetic at hospital sites, including work outside routine hours.
- Provide treatment under sedation and support verbal sedation protocols.
- Conduct assessment clinics and undertake other service provision as required.
- Maintain patient records, audit contribution, and use patient management software.
- Participate in teaching, training, and assessment of clinical procedures.
- Deliver high‑standard patient care with excellent communication, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Work independently, manage patients calmly under pressure.
Qualifications & Experience
- BDS or equivalent degree.
- Registered with the General Dental Council.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience in a primary dental care setting (post‑qualification).
- Experience paediatric dentistry and working with special care groups.
- Experience working in domiciliary settings.
- Competency in inhalation sedation techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and patient management software.
- Demonstrated audit contribution and participation.
- Good personal motivation and willingness to learn new skills.
Desirable
- Dental Foundation Training.
- Relevant postgraduate degree or training qualification.
- Included on a Dental Performers List.
