An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Physiotherapy Team as a Physiotherapy Support Worker. This full-time post principally supports the Physiotherapy Walking Aids Service, which is based in Treforest and operates across all of the University Health Board sites. The role will also involve patient-facing and administrative duties within the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team at the University Hospital Llandough. The position is key to ensuring patients receive safe, reliable mobility aids that support their rehabilitation and discharge planning. You will contribute to maintaining high-quality physiotherapy services by managing walking aids, supporting equipment refurbishment, and helping train other support staff. The post holder may also be required to work a 7-day job plan to support the delivery of 7-day Physiotherapy services. The ability to travel across the community is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Order, deliver, and maintain a range of walking aids to support patient mobility and safe discharge.
  • Support stock control processes and assist in the refurbishment of returned equipment.
  • Train other support staff to develop basic competencies in walking-aid refurbishment.
  • Work as part of the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team to support rehabilitation programmes.
  • Engage effectively with patients, colleagues, and the wider MDT using good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Drive a delivery van to transport equipment as required, demonstrating confidence in safe manoeuvring and handling.

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak Welsh desirable (Welsh and/or English speakers equally welcome to apply).
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the community.
  • Capability to work a 7-day job plan if required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
