We are seeking a highly motivated, successful professional nurse to join our Adult Mental Health Directorate team in the role of Inpatient Senior Nurse Manager. You will have significant post registration experience with a proven track record of excellent leadership and managerial skills and embody the Cardiff and Vale UHB's Health board values. Main duties of the job:

  • Provide professional leadership to the mental health nurses in Adult Acute and Psychiatric Intensive Care settings.
  • Contribute to the Mental Health Services for Adult Directorate in terms of shaping the clinical nursing strategy, and shaping the service as a whole.
  • Play a significant role in developing our inpatient services, and be part of the Directorate's drive to improve and maintain clinical governance, quality and safety and service delivery.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with managing service change and communicating service objectives to your teams in an effective and successful way.

Job responsibilities:

  • Providing clinical leadership to the nursing establishments with Adult Inpatient Services.
  • Provide day to day line management of ward nurses, resources and financial management.
  • Operationally line manage all nurses within the Adult Inpatient Service including Acute, Intensive Care and Site Co-Ordinator teams.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse - Currently Registered with NMC
  • Educated to Degree Level
  • Masters in relevant health related subject or equivalent
  • Leadership Development
  • Evidence of ongoing, relevant CPD
  • Level 3 & 4 POVA/child protection training
  • Post Graduate Management Diploma
  • Teaching and Assessing Module
Experience:
  • Clinically credible with experience of multi-disciplinary working.
  • Successful management of change and service modernisation.
  • Substantial post registration experience including clinical leadership, team management and with reputation for professional innovation and excellence.
  • Experience of establishing, developing and managing clinical services.
  • Experience of investigating conduct/professional issues.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Management of complex, sensitive and contentious situations.
  • Experience of managing Safeguarding incidents.
  • Experience of managing budgets and financial control.
