Responsibilities
- Provide autonomous, HCPC‑registered assessment, treatment and management of patients with complex rehabilitation and mental health needs.
- Deliver high‑standard mental health assessment and interventions in collaboration with Occupational Therapy, Psychological Health teams and the wider interdisciplinary team.
- Conduct evaluation of practice, audit and performance management, and provide constructive feedback to staff and students.
- Mentor, induct, train and supervise students, junior staff and peer teams.
- Plan and deliver clinical leadership initiatives for service development and improvement.
- Maintain professional competence through Continuing Professional Development, appraisal and evidence‑based practice.
- Travel to required areas within and beyond the Trust; work flexibly across all NUH campuses.
- Undertake out‑of‑hours duties (weekends, on‑call and bank holidays) as required.
Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- Full HCPC registration.
- Evidence of maintaining professional competence through CPD and appraisal.
- Member of a relevant Specialist Interest Group.
- First‑line management and Clinical Educators courses completed.
- Post‑graduate training in complex rehabilitation / mental health.
- Broad junior rotational experience across multiple clinical settings.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and across professional and organisational boundaries.
- Knowledge of national and local standards, professional guidelines and relevant legal frameworks.
- Experience in evaluating practice, appraising performance, and providing feedback.
- Experience in audit, evidence‑based psychological skills, and clinical reasoning for assessment and management planning.
- History of working with patients with mental health conditions or in complex rehabilitation environments.
- Strong communication, advocacy, conflict resolution and empathetic relational skills.
- Effective time‑management, prioritisation, delegation and workload organisation abilities.
