Responsibilities include familiarising yourself with the full job description and person specification prior to applying. As an integral part of the team, you will be required to use the Stores IT system (currently Ingenica) on a daily basis, scanning consumables for both issue and receipt. You will also have responsibilities for receiving deliveries from suppliers, checking such deliveries, and replenishing the Stores with the delivered stock. Assisting with audits and rolling stock counts within the stores areas is also part of the role.

The successful candidate must have a flexible approach as there will be a requirement to learn and cross cover other stores teams, working as part of the supplies team and the wider multi-disciplinary team, providing an efficient stock control service within the theatre stores. The post holder will be responsible for receipt and checking of deliveries, placing stock in the correct location, and picking consumables for the theatres on a daily and ad-hoc basis as required. Training will be provided in all aspects of the duties, and adherence to all trust policies and procedures is expected.

A good level of concentration is required, and physical fitness is necessary due to the constant booking in of stock, putting stock away, and picking of stock throughout the day. Enthusiasm, commitment, and adaptability to change are essential. A positive image of Supplies at NUH Trust should be demonstrated at all times while showing a commitment to support the Trust values and behaviours. We are looking for applicants who are eager to learn, able to organise and prioritise their own work to meet deadlines, and able to work using their own initiative.

Qualifications:

  • English language GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and stock management systems
  • Experience with a PC-based stock control purchasing system
  • Knowledge/experience of the process of stock taking including date checks
  • Ability to communicate with providers and users of theatre services
  • Ability to resolve supplies problems/concerns using tact and diplomacy
  • Recognise own role as part of a team and communicate competence and limitations to appropriate staff
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Understanding the importance of periodic reviews of stock levels and products
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and organise own workload, working on own initiative within set guidelines
  • Physical skills: Ability to regularly manoeuvre equipment/stock with assistance in line with Trust policy
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walking, bending, and collating stock around stores
