Bank Healthcare Assistant Night Service in Norwich

Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) who enjoys working in partnership with patients and their families? We are seeking a passionate and motivated Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our night community nursing teams working in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. You will be based at Beccles Hospital or JPUH. The successful candidate will have prior experience of working in healthcare, and be able to support patients and their families in challenging situations. As a team member working out of core hours the role will require an ability to work closely with professionals from other organisations. The service delivers unplanned care to patients and will require the successful candidate to be resilient and resourceful. You will be working within an established team of clinicians who visit patients in their own homes and Residential Care, visits are completed by a Registered Nurse and a non registered nurse working in partnership. The desire to deliver high quality, compassionate end of life care is essential.

Main duties of the job

The out of hours team visits patients in the community overnight with unplanned care needs. This can include people at the end of their lives, unexpected catheter issues, and people who have fallen. The team are part of the 24/7 PCH urgent response cover, and work in close partnership with the daytime teams to ensure seamless care around the clock. The out of hours team currently works between the hours of 20.00 and 07.00 however there is scope for these hours to vary to meet service need. The out of hours team work in pairs comprising of one Registered Nurse and one Healthcare Assistant (HCA), and share responsibility for driving during the shift. The HCA works under the direction of the RN to support with tasks such as replenishing clinical stock, reviewing and recording in patient notes, and supporting with clinical tasks.

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (working towards) or equivalent experience in community setting.
