Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a 34.5 hour post working within a busy Minor Injury Unit/Outpatient Department/Wards at Newquay Community Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out minor injury treatments such as dressings, plastering, general observations and triage.
  • Provide assistance to the MIU/OPD trained staff in planning, delivering, and evaluating care.
  • Book patients and attend to their general needs in the OPD.
  • Carry out all interventions to a high standard under the supervision of the trained MIU/OPD practitioners.
  • Provide A&C support as needed to members of the team.
  • Work under pressure in an emergency setting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Direct Care or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant within a hospital setting.
  • Experience of working in an urgent care environment, outpatient department or ward environment.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake further skills training, e.g. wound management and plaster cast application.

Additional Information

The role requires completed MIU skills/triage workbooks and a willingness to undertake additional training.
