Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Neurosurgical Data Assistant to join our busy Neurosurgery department at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
This role supports the collection, entry and maintenance of clinical data for neurosurgical and neuro‑oncology patients, ensuring accurate information is available for MDT meetings and service reporting.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve patient information from hospital systems (e. g., i Portal), patient notes and maintain tracking logs.
- Prepare documentation for MDTs and the Skull Base MDT, including note‑taking and basic data capture.
- Enter and update data in the Somerset Oncology Database under supervision, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain simple tracking systems to identify follow‑up patients seen outside the Skull Base Clinic.
- Contribute to the preparation of activity data for service reporting and to achieve KPIs.
- Provide administrative support to the Service Manager and Neurosurgical clinical team, including preparing routine reports and distributing information.
- Participate in MDT and departmental meetings in a supporting capacity and report any process improvement ideas to senior staff.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, protecting sensitive information with professionalism.
Qualifications
- Good GCSE education or equivalent.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Previous experience in a similar data‑collection role preferred.
- Ability to work accurately and independently, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and communication skills, and effective interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
- Comfortable working alone and as part of a team.
