Position

Receptionist – full‑time, up to 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (mornings and afternoons as per business needs).

Location

Grove Surgery, Netherfield, Milton Keynes, opposite Milton Keynes University Hospital. Serves approximately 8,500 patients and is part of the East MK PCN.

Overview

First point of contact for patients and external services – face‑to‑face, on the telephone and via email.

Assist patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team, projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Administration: thorough knowledge of all practice procedures and written protocols.
  • Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary.
  • Process incoming paperwork (post, prescription requests, photocopying). Hand complete repeat prescriptions to patients, verifying names and addresses.
  • Cover all reception positions as needed.
  • Contact patients for appointments, greet them on arrival, direct appropriately, inform of late‑running surgeries and register new patients.
  • Process appointment requests by telephone and in person.
  • Register new patients and update medical records: computer data entry, change of address, repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Assist hospital administration teams and liaise with GPs and health professionals for word‑processing and other clerical duties.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs grade A–C (or equivalent).
  • Previous receptionist experience desirable; we will consider inexperienced candidates as full training will be provided.
  • Experience using Systemone preferred.
