Overview

The GMMH rehabilitation service has an exciting opportunity for an innovative occupational therapist to join the Rehabilitation Division.

The postholder will work across Level1 and Level2 services, providing comprehensive and individualised occupational therapy assessment, formulation and SMART‑goal based treatment interventions, delivered in 1:1 or group settings on the unit and in the community as appropriate.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide OT assessment and intervention to a designated caseload of service users with complex mental health and physical needs.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment using the MOHO model.
  • Co‑produce an occupational formulation with the service user.
  • Co‑produce SMART goals with the service user and MDT.
  • Design and carry out treatment plans, involving other MDT members as appropriate.
  • Evaluate OT intervention.
  • Provide OT professional advice for MDT and support staff.
  • Participate in planning, development and evaluation of the OT service within the team, taking responsibility for defined projects.
  • Regularly supervise OT students on fieldwork placement.
  • Maintain a recovery focus and demonstrate skill and sensitivity in the assessment of vulnerable service users with higher needs.
  • Play a key role in the development of the service, assisting the leadership team in day‑to‑day operations, organising, leading, teaching and supporting junior colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Clinical experience within a mental health rehabilitation setting.
  • Clinical experience within a community mental health setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously, set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Assessment skills – standardised and functional.
  • Ability to co‑produce SMART goals.
  • Ability to provide intervention both 1:1 and group.
  • Ability to evaluate and redesign treatment plan.
  • Ability to supervise and manage junior staff.
  • Understanding and knowledge of MOHO.
  • Experience working within MDT.
  • Education of students.
  • Awareness of MHA.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check required. The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
