An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke Care, to join our comprehensive therapy team. The stroke service is currently provided at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and the current strategic plan is for the Stroke Service to move to a new build at the William Harvey Hospital in 2028. For this post we require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our specialty and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services. As part of the Stroke workforce development, we are looking to provide comprehensive Stroke rehabilitation across 7 days and the post holder will be expected to contribute to 7 day working., The role of the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist is to provide information, support and expert advice in the management of patients who have suffered a Stroke or other neurological conditions, from the time of diagnosis and throughout the disease spectrum and be an integral part of the multi disciplinary team. To be involved in the advanced assessment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and or/chronic presentation and give highly specialised therapy advice to other team members and to provide a key focus for clinical expertise. To establish and develop sound communication networks, along with other specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service. In conjunction with the wider MDT, develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to clinical specialty. In conjunction with the Clinical Lead, ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management, Band 7 Physiotherapists work closely with all users of our services and their families, friends and carers who all play an invaluable contribution in how our users experience our services. Band 7 Physiotherapists are expected to be kind and responsive but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services provided across the health economy by: Keeping the people who using our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures Ensuring the people using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process Main Responsibilities:-

Main Responsibilities

• To provide day to day ward leadership for the Physiotherapy services across the Stroke Wards within EKHUFT.You will be working collaboratively with the Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy Team to support the wider stroke therapy workforce.
• To provide a key focus for therapeutic clinical expertise, high quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team.
• To help the clinical lead plan, develop, optimise and evaluate the stroke therapy service and all its processes
• To establish and develop sound communication networks, along with other clinical specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.
• Alongside the APTs, Clinical Leads and Site Leads, you will be expected to ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence-based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management
• The hospital has strong links with Brighton University, Christchurch University in Canterbury and the University of Greenwich and supports Physiotherapy students placements. In conjunction with the MDT, you will be expected to develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to the clinical specialty.
  BSc Physiotherapist
• HCPC registration, 2 years Band 6 in Neurological Rehabilitation
• Proven record of providing high quality intervention for high risk patients.
• Knowledge of up to date clinical / evidenced based practice.
• Highly developed clinical skills in relevant area.
• Experience or participation in research or audit
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Teaching / facilitating training.
