This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the South West Thames Renal and Transplant Division at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust where the Divisional Director of Nursing, alongside the Divisional Director of Operations and the Divisional Medical Director, is expected to deliver the effective integrated clinical, operational and financial performance of the Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop renal services across the South West Thames Renal and Transplant Division geography, working closely with colleagues at St George's Hospital and identifying ways to work more closely together to offer the best care to patients across the catchment area for the Group.
  • Take the lead on quality, safety and patient experience across the Division, contributing to the Quality Improvement plan as well as contributing to the Corporate Nursing agenda and having a portfolio that reflects this as delegated by the Site and Group Chief Nurse.
  • Provide proactive and visible leadership across four key areas: service leadership, people and personal leadership, quality leadership and collaborative leadership.
  • Ensure effective implementation of both national and local strategies and the achievement of service objectives within the available resources.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NMC Registration
  • Masters or equivalent
  • Up to date personal and professional development
  • The Renal Course or equivalent
  • Developing and leading clinical governance / risk agenda
  • Senior Management experience with responsibility for a wide range of service areas
  • Financial management and control
  • Staff management at a senior level
  • Leading and managing complex change
  • Working across professional and organisational boundaries
  • Developing and implementing patient safety processes
  • Knowledge of current nursing and AHP issues, policies and procedures
  • Ability to develop strategic priorities and organise staff and resources to achieve high quality patient care
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks for NHS Trusts
  • Ability to make decisions and manage emergency situations
  • Team player and able to work collaboratively, with a commitment to improving patient care
  • Emotionally resilient and able to manage a fluctuating workload in a dynamic environment
