Overview
Are you a qualified Chef who is passionate about fresh seasonal food and delivering high‑quality, person‑centred hospitality?
As a Second Chef at Barchester, you will support the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well‑balanced menus for residents, while enjoying a better work‑life balance and avoiding split shifts or long weeks.
Responsibilities
- Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Assist the Head Chef in menu development and prepare high‑quality, wholesome dishes.
- Work with fresh produce to deliver high‑standard meals.
- Create a warm, efficient and fun environment for staff and residents.
- Work within budget, complete regular audits and manage stock control.
Qualifications
- Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
- Good understanding of nutrition and HACCP.
- Experience working with fresh seasonal food.
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within a home setting.
- Confident engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
