Overview 12‑month Locum Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist.

Join a team of 32 consultants providing care within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University Hospital of North Midlands.

The role covers both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites.

Clinical Duties and Responsibilities Provide full surgical Gynaecological Oncology cover, including diagnostics and major procedures such as robotic surgery, Wertheim’s operation, radical and supra‑radical surgery for ovarian cancer, and sentinel node sampling.

Attend the 1:12 on‑call rota (weekday and weekend) and provide continuing responsibility for patients in charge.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, divisional, trust and regional committees, and immediate management functions and strategic planning.

Engage in audit programmes, clinical trials recruitment, and other quality improvement initiatives.

Complete 9.949 PAs per week across both sites.

Qualifications and Experience MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification.

CCT or equivalent; eligibility for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within six months.

Completed RCOG Subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology or equivalent.

Recent experience working in a UK‑based hospital in a Gynaecology oncology sub‑specialty post.

Other higher degree or diploma (e. g., MD, Ph D, FRCS).

BSCCP accreditation.

Ability to work effectively with colleagues and within a team; attendance at MDT meetings.

Evidence of team leadership, experience in research including recruitment to clinical trials, and willingness to participate in audit programmes.

Proficiency in all aspects of laparoscopic surgery relevant to gynaecological oncology, including performing Wertheim’s operation.

Experience in radical and supra‑radical surgery for ovarian cancer, including upper abdominal peritoneal stripping.

Accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC.

Proficiency in performing robotic procedures, including simple and radical hysterectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy, and certification as a robotic proctor/trainer.

Experience in sentinel node sampling in vulval and endometrial cancer.

Ability to work under pressure, flexibly, and meet travel requirements of the post.
