Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality inpatient care within the Medicine and Emergency Care Division at the Royal, contributing to continuous improvement of care for general medical inpatients.
  • Lead and deliver care as a consultant, support and mentor junior doctors, and supervise postgraduate research where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Completed Higher Specialist Training or CESR in General (Internal) Medicine (CESR is not mandatory for this fixed‑term post).
  • MRCP or equivalent full GMC registration with Licence to Practice.
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine or within 6 months of receiving Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
  • Experience in the management of acutely ill patients.
  • Experience of risk management, quality governance, audit and/or research activity.
  • Experience supervising junior doctors and providing educational supervision.
  • Clinical leadership experience or training.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills and supervise postgraduate research.
  • Sound knowledge of NHS structures and systems.
  • Ability to adapt to change and lead change effectively.
  • Publications in peer‑reviewed journals (optional but desirable).
