Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality inpatient care within the Medicine and Emergency Care Division at the Royal, contributing to continuous improvement of care for general medical inpatients.
- Lead and deliver care as a consultant, support and mentor junior doctors, and supervise postgraduate research where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Completed Higher Specialist Training or CESR in General (Internal) Medicine (CESR is not mandatory for this fixed‑term post).
- MRCP or equivalent full GMC registration with Licence to Practice.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine or within 6 months of receiving Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
- Experience in the management of acutely ill patients.
- Experience of risk management, quality governance, audit and/or research activity.
- Experience supervising junior doctors and providing educational supervision.
- Clinical leadership experience or training.
- Ability to teach clinical skills and supervise postgraduate research.
- Sound knowledge of NHS structures and systems.
- Ability to adapt to change and lead change effectively.
- Publications in peer‑reviewed journals (optional but desirable).
