We are seeking a compassionate leader and manager to collaborate in the development of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Early Help services in Gwynedd and Mon. This senior clinician role will build on established preventative and early intervention approaches to improve emotional wellbeing and mental health outcomes for babies, infants, children, young people, families and carers. Working strategically across health, education, social care and third sector, the successful candidate will lead service transformation aligned with BCUHB and Welsh Government priorities to ensure the 0‑18 year population receives timely, accessible and compassionate support.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the new CAMH Early Help service, supervising, training and coaching CAMH Early Help Practitioners to develop practice‑based research and enquiry.
- Work alongside the West Strategic and Operational Lead for CAMHS Early Help, supporting schools and communities through audit, policy and service development using specialised research skills.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of local policies and procedures to support ongoing service quality improvement.
- Provide clinical supervision to Early Help colleagues, drawing upon highly specialised clinical skills.
- Participate in regional and national service developments linked to West CAMHS Early Help.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to offer consultation and promote mental health within schools and communities.
Qualifications
- Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996).
- Registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and accreditation from the British Psychological Society.
- Clinical supervision training for supervising doctoral trainees.
- Substantial experience as a qualified and senior clinical psychologist, including significant post‑qualification experience within the designated speciality or relevant transferable skills.
- Experience applying clinical psychology in different cultural contexts and representing psychology within multi‑disciplinary care.
- Experience in the professional management of qualified clinical psychologists and other staff.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Advanced IT skills.
- Ability to speak Welsh (essential); English is desirable.
