We have an exciting part time opportunity for a BANK Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally needs to be a car driver due to the location of the prison.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
  • Assess patients’ health needs using an evidence‑based framework and conduct risk assessments using sound clinical knowledge.
  • Provide advice, support and information to individuals and manage a caseload of patients.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision and evidence‑based care.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi‑disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse – NMC registration (Mental Health)
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Experience of working with patients face‑to‑face who have complex mental health conditions.
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential).
