We are looking to expand our Bank Nursing Team and are seeking an experienced, motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive practice on a flexible, as-needed basis., Flexible bank sessions to support service demand, including holiday and sickness cover and seasonal vaccinations. You will be expected to work independently and confidently across a range of core practice nursing duties., The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas including
- Childhood Immunisations
- Travel health and immunisations
- Routine injections (e.g. B12, depot)
- Cervical smears
- Wound care and dressings
- Seasonal vaccinations
- Phlebotomy
- Childhood Immunisations

- Cervical smears
- Seasonal flu/ Covid vaccinations
- Phlebotomy, Experience of working as a practice nurse, Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- cervical cytology
- Venepuncture
- Chaperone procedure
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel)
- Understanding the importance of evidence based practice
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs
- Understanding of infection prevention and control measures
- Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
- Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy, Travel medicine
- Awareness of issues within the wider health arena
- Knowledge of health promotion strategies Based in Kendal, in the heart of the South Lakes
- Training practice with a strong focus on quality care and staff wellbeing
- Active involvement in our local Primary Care Network
- Committed to reducing unnecessary workload and improving systems
We can offer you the flexibility and variety of a bank role in a large general practice.
Rate £23.53 per hour inclusive of holiday allowance, depending on experience and responsibilities.
