Overview

North‑East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) provides award‑winning community and mental healthcare for over 2million people across North‑East London, Essex and Kent and Medway.

We are looking for two independent prescribers (or working towards) to lead new mental health clinical pharmacy services within our community teams in Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pharmacist‑led clinics and joint‑clinics with doctors, offering patient‑focused and proactive care.
  • Perform individual patient assessments and consultations as required, providing medicines optimisation to promote high‑quality care and reduce health inequalities.
  • Work autonomously within the pharmacy and wider community mental health teams.
  • Manage and appraise pharmacy staff and provide training to patients and carers.
  • Write and review policies, procedures and patient group directions.
  • Deliver operational service delivery, project or change management and strategic initiatives across the health community.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MPharm or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPh C).
  • Postgraduate diploma or equivalent in clinical pharmacy.
  • Postgraduate certificate in psychiatric therapeutics.
  • Independent prescriber registration or willingness to undertake the course.
  • Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy or equivalent credential.
  • Post‑registration clinical experience in mental health, including hospital, community and primary care settings.
  • Evidence of leadership, operational service delivery, and project or change management experience.
  • Experience managing and appraising staff.
  • Evidence of writing and reviewing policies, procedures and patient group directions.
  • Experience of working at a strategic level across the wider health community.
  • Additional Information
  • Post is based at Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, Ilford, with primary base in Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge or Waltham Forest.
  • High‑cost area supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4870 to maximum £6137p. a. pro‑rata for part time).
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
  • Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
