Pharmacy Assistant – Stores
At Hinchingbrooke Hospital, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Assistant – Stores to join our committed and friendly Pharmacy Stores team.
Responsibilities
- Provide the timely supply of drugs to all our service users, including wards, clinics and departments within the Trust.
- Visit wards for the topping‑up service.
- Pick stock from the pharmacy store and book stock.
- Carry out stock taking, stock disposing and assist with the reduction of waste.
- Take telephone requests from the wards and assist with queries according to store procedures.
- Assist the Chief Pharmacist in providing comprehensive specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management.
- Provide technical assistance and support to the pharmacy teams across the pharmacy service, ensuring a safe, accurate and timely approach in all tasks.
- Ensure the cost‑effective and timely supply of drugs and pharmacy products.
- Contribute towards the effective maintenance and control of Pharmacy stock within the Pharmacy directorate and the Trust.
- Work Monday to Friday, and participate in the department Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holiday rotation through the dispensary area.
Qualifications
- Recognised Pharmacy Assistant qualification (Dispensing Assistant, Counter Assistant or Pharmacy Stock Management) or willingness to undertake.
- Recognised Pharmacy Services qualification or equivalent. Experience in a pharmacy or hospital stores environment is an advantage.
- Friendly, reliable and approachable personality with a willingness to learn.
- Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- GCSE in Maths & English or equivalent.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook).
- Experience in a stores environment.
- Knowledge/understanding of Pharmacy Computer Purchasing System (e. g. Ascribe, Care Flow, Well Sky, JAC).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload logically to complete tasks and prioritise jobs.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to act on own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Capability to identify challenges and recommend solutions.
- Remain calm and work effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
- Good customer care skills, friendly and approachable.
